Melee is completely counterable by simply running away or keeping distance in the first place. If you could block, melee could very well be useless, despite its already relative weakness. It's not something the system "lacks." Implementing systems to allow for actually changing a weapons range would damage the simpleness of Hunt's combat, and upset weapon balance. Its possible the devs have even tried "stopping power" and found it was bad for some reason. Hits slowing down players would have a big effect on combat. Weapon hits have no manstopping power at all, another system lacking.This isn't something "lacking". The reloading is somewhat thoughtful, but the game doesnt even come close to the weapon handling and detail Tripwire Interactive put into the guns.
